Public Disclosure Tidbits by Sara Di Vittorio

Sara Di Vittorio is the Public Records Deputy Prosecutor for Snohomish County.  In her spare time she teaches an Advanced Public Disclosure class for LEIRA.  She has agreed to share some tidbits that come from her classes on our website.

1.   What is the language to use on final public records release re: Belinski v Jefferson County?

 Answer from Sara:

This is the agency’s final and definite response to your request.  Your request is now closed.

 2.    What is the language used on the outside of the envelope when corresponding with inmates so that the corrections center knows this is not legal mail and they can inspect it?

Answer from Sara:

Here is the language – it should be in red ink on the envelope:

NOT LEGAL MAIL.

CONTAINS PUBLIC DISCLOSURE MATERIALS;

INSTITUTIONAL POLICY MAY PROHIBIT

DELIVERY TO RECIPIENT.

We have attached a mailing label you can use with the above language.
